Botanical identity to be confirmed. In Indian trade “bay leaf” normally means tej patta, the leaf of Cinnamomum tamala, which is long with three lengthwise veins; the product photograph shows long three-veined leaves consistent with C. tamala rather than the single-veined Mediterranean bay (Laurus nobilis). To be confirmed.
Bay leaf, as traded in India, is usually the dried leaf of Cinnamomum tamala (tej patta), a long leaf with three prominent lengthwise veins; the Mediterranean bay (Laurus nobilis) is a different plant. Our bay leaf brings a light floral aroma.
